This session is ONLY for NJALA Members and their guests. Educational Session (Precedes the NJALA 25th Annual Business Partner Expo) "The Opioid Crisis" Presented by John E. Keefe, Jr., Esq., President of the New Jersey State Bar Association, and Elaine Durkas, Director of Human Resources of Fusion Employer Services, LLC “The United States is in the middle of the worst drug epidemic in its history, and the solution needs to be a coordinated approach that incorporates prevention, treatment, and law enforcement.” Inside the Opium (Legal) Wars, a panel at this year’s State Bar Annual Convention in Atlantic City, John E. Keefe, Jr., moderator.
Elaine Durkas, Director of Human Resources at Fusion Employment Services LLC, will continue the session with a presentation on how substance abuse in the workplace results in increased absenteeism, diminished productivity, on-the-job accidents, and other liabilities. Learn how to identify and respond to substance abuse in the workplace, and how to remain compliant concerning drug testing, accommodations, and leaves of absence.  *CLM® Application Credit for Functional Specialists: 1.25 hours in the subject area of Human Resources Management (HR) towards the additional hours required of some Functional Specialists to fulfill the CLM application. *CLM® Recertification Credit: 1.25 hours in the subject area of Human Resources Management (HR); this session also satisfies the Substance Abuse recertification requirement.
