2017 New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA) - Annual Meeting and Convention Recap

By Kathy Dart

The NJALA was represented at the 2017 New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA) Annual Meeting and Convention held at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City, New Jersey this past May.  As advertised, “[t]he NJSBA Annual Meeting and Convention is the place to be each year for education, CLE credits, networking, the industry’s top speakers and outstanding social events.  It is the must-attend event of the year where you can you get 16 CLE credits in 3 days”.

There were approximately 3,100 attorneys, paralegals, administrators and other members of the legal community in attendance.  The NJALA and the NJSBA Paralegal Special Committee, complementing each other’s organizations, had adjacent exhibit tables.  The tables were conveniently located right outside some of the most popular meeting rooms.  It was a successful event for both organizations and the NJALA looks forward to expanding its presence at this event in 2018.

Kathy Dart, Alison Rizzo and Maria Florio hosted the NJALA table, while Lisa St. Clair (Co-Chair of the NJSBA Paralegal Special Committee) hosted the adjoining table.  All women are active members of their respective organizations.  The NJALA table had popular “tchotchke” giveaways, informative articles reprinted from its newsletters, announcements regarding upcoming events and invitations to educational workshops, candy (always a big crowd-pleaser) and a gift card drawing.  The winner of the gift card drawing was Michael Coco, RN, Esq. of The Coco Law Firm LLC in Princeton, New Jersey.  Congratulations and enjoy, Michael!

The NJALA also sponsored the NJSBA Annual Meeting and Convention’s Mindfulness Meditation Lounge, allowing a quiet respite for meeting attendees.  Additionally, the NJALA congratulates new NJSBA President, Robert B. Hille, Esq., and wishes him and his fellow newly-appointed Executive Committee members a successful term in office.

Share this news with your firm’s attorneys that plan to attend the NJSBA Annual Meeting and Convention next year.  Tell them to stop by and visit the NJALA representatives so they may see firsthand the popularity of our table, all the useful, practical and industry-specific information they must share with their administrators and, most importantly, the collective power and intelligence of the NJALA!
